God is Faithful!

This past week I spoke to men who murdered, raped, and stole from their neighbors... and God was present.

The gospel lesson was on Peter's denial of Christ. In many ways Peter's betrayal of Jesus was worse than the betrayal of Judas. That's right, I think Peter's betrayal was worse than Judas'. Peter denied knowing Jesus, being with him, and being his disciple. Judas didn't. Peter was given a choice on three occasions to acknowledge his relationship with God's Anointed and Peter refused each time...then the cock crowed.

Ash Wednesday Poem

Here is a poem that blessed me and I hope blesses you!
Blessing the Dust
A Blessing for Ash Wednesday
   by Jan Richardson
All those days
...you felt like dust,
like dirt,
as if all you had to do
was turn your face
toward the wind
and be scattered
to the four corners
or swept away
by the smallest breath
as insubstantial--

St.Christopher's Visit

Preached at St. Christopher's this Sunday. It was a wonderful blessing to be at a smaller church that has its service seated in the round. Very nice intimate setting with an incredible view of nature through the sanctuary windows.

Three Baptisms and an Affirmation

We continue to be blessed with performing baptisms. Tonight we had three more baptisms and another affirmation of baptism. The names of those baptized/affirmed are Johnathon, Edward, Hunter, and Ryan. Please keep these men in your prayers as they have stepped forward and received God's gift of forgiveness and life found in baptismal waters. This brings the total baptisms (14) and affirmations (2) to sixteen for this year. SIXTEEN! Jesus is Risen, Alive, and With Us. What an incredible blessing! God is working in these men's lives.
